About us

Overview

Founded in 2006, Atlas was formed by Jeffrey Goldberger and Andrew Cohen to invest in opportunistic, value-added real estate transactions globally. Atlas’ portfolio consists of over $2.5 billion of developmental land, residential, commercial, and hotel real estate assets in New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C. and London. Atlas is a full service real estate investment, development and management firm. In-house disciplines include property management, construction, leasing, accounting, legal and financial analysis. On a selective basis, Atlas property manages and provides advisory services for third parties, including lenders and other owners/developers.

Principals

Jeffrey A. Goldberger

Mr. Goldberger has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry. From 1988-1996, Mr. Goldberger was the founding Principal and President of JAG Capital, a boutique privately held real estate investment company which specialized in value-added real estate equity investments and distressed debt opportunities. In 1997, Mr. Goldberger became a Principal and the President of The Witkoff Group, LLC, a full service real estate investment firm. Under Mr. Goldberger’s guidance, from 1997-2002, The Witkoff Group, LLC acquired approximately 15 million square feet of commercial real estate. In 2002, Mr. Goldberger was hired by UBS Investment Bank to develop and manage the real estate equity investment platform within the Global Commercial Real Estate Group. From 2002-2006, until the formation of Atlas Capital Group, LLC, Mr. Goldberger invested UBS’ capital on a principal basis in opportunistic / value-added equity investments and high leverage debt instruments. Mr. Goldberger graduated from Tufts University in 1984 and from the NYU Stern Business School in 1986, where he obtained an MBA in Finance.

Andrew B. Cohen

Prior to the formation of Atlas, Mr. Cohen was a Managing Director in the Global Commercial Real Estate Group at UBS Investment Bank. Mr. Cohen joined UBS Investment Bank in 2001 and was responsible for the origination, structuring and closing of large and complex debt instruments as well as the sale of the group’s investments into the capital markets. Mr. Cohen teamed up with Mr. Goldberger in 2002 to develop the real estate equity investment platform at UBS Investment Bank. From 2002-2006, Mr. Cohen invested UBS’ capital on a principal basis in opportunistic / valued-added equity investments and high leverage debt instruments. Prior to joining UBS Investment Bank, Mr. Cohen was a practicing real estate attorney at Schulte, Roth & Zabel LLP where he structured and closed complex debt and equity real estate transactions while representing real estate developers, real estate funds and investment banks. Mr. Cohen graduated from Princeton University in 1989 and from Fordham University School of Law in 1994.

Key Employees

Jacob S. Wood, U.S. Director of Acquisitions & Analysis

Mr. Wood joined Atlas in 2007, he is responsible for all U.S. acquisitions including research, financial analysis and projections. Mr. Wood began his career at Atlas as a Senior Acquisitions Analyst and Asset Manager. Prior to joining Atlas, Mr. Wood was a Senior Financial Analyst at The JBG Companies, where he underwrote commercial, residential, hotel and mixed-use real estate investments and was responsible for asset management functions. Mr. Wood graduated from Dartmouth College where he graduated with a degree in Economics.

Christopher W. Flynn, Controller

Mr. Flynn joined Atlas in 2006, he is responsible for all accounting, treasury and risk management functions at the corporate and partnership levels. Prior to joining Atlas, he was a Vice President at Vornado Realty Trust. Mr. Flynn was responsible for accounting, SEC compliance, management reporting and financial analysis for joint ventures. Before joining Vornado, he had been Director of Financial Reporting at Haights Cross Communications, Inc. Prior to that, he was with Ernst & Young, LLP. Mr. Flynn graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a B.S. in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Louis B. Blum, Jr., Director of Construction & Building Operations

Mr. Blum joined Atlas in 2008, he is responsible for all construction, capital improvement and renovation projects as well as the repair and maintenance of building infrastructure and systems. Mr. Blum has over 24 years of project management experience in office, residential and retail construction projects. Prior to joining Atlas, Mr. Blum was a Senior Project Manager/Account Executive at Vanguard Construction & Development. Mr. Blum graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Architecture and from Clemson University where he earned a Master’s Degree in Architecture.

Gene A. Daversa, Construction Manager

Mr. Daversa joined Atlas in 2012, he is responsible for the on-site construction management of Atlas’ capital improvement and renovation projects. Mr. Daversa has over 15 years of construction and facilities management experience in residential, office, hospitality and retail projects. Prior to joining Atlas, Mr. Daversa was a Construction Manager at B&B Construction. Mr. Daversa graduated from Ithaca College with a B.S in Business Administration.

Adam B. Lavinsky, U.S. Commercial Asset Manager

Mr. Lavinsky joined Atlas in 2008, he is responsible for commercial property operations including market analysis, leasing, tenant matters, expense management, budgeting and reporting. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Mr. Lavinsky is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Perry Incantalupo, Commercial Property Manager

Mr. Incantalupo joined Atlas in 2013, he is responsible for commercial property operations including tenant matters, vendor relations, expense management and budgeting. Prior to joining Atlas, he was a General Manager at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. Prior to that, he was a Real Estate Manager at CBRE. Mr. Incantalupo graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and received a Master’s in Real Estate Finance from New York University.

Erin H. Gabrielli, U.S. Residential Asset Manager & Legal Coordinator

Ms. Gabrielli joined Atlas in 2006, she is responsible for residential property operations including marketing, sales, leasing, tenant matters and legal coordination. She supervises third party contractors/advisors, oversees capital expenditures and prepares investor/lender reports. Ms. Gabrielli graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Information Management & Technology.

Lissette Espinal, Director of Property Accounting

Ms. Espinal joined Atlas in 2007, she is responsible for all property accounting functions including payables/receivables, bank reconciliation, payroll and cash management. She is also responsible for the property management IT systems including Yardi. Prior to joining Atlas, Ms. Espinal was a senior accountant reporting directly to the CFO at Stellar Management, an owner-operator of more than 19,000 apartment units and 3 million sq. ft. of office space.
